PhD Candidate Receives Louisville Institute Dissertation Fellowship

Congratulations to Amy Slagle on receiving a prestigious 2007-2008 Louisville Fellowship for completion of her dissertation on "'Nostalgia without Memory': Identity, Choice-making, and Tradition among American Converts to Eastern Orthodoxy."

Pitt Fellowship Winners

Congratulations to Hongyu Wu, who is in China conducting dissertation research on "Leading the Good Life: Biographical Narratives of and Instructions for Chinese Lay Buddhist Women in the High Qing (1644-1839)," on receiving a second-year renewal of a Mellon Fellowship (2006-2007, 2007-2008).

Kudos to PhD student Joel Brady on receiving an AY 2008 REES FLAS Award for the study of Ukrainian for his project on "Ethnoreligiosity and Identity Politics among East European Greek Catholic Immigrants in Ambridge, Pennsylvania (1904-1958)," and a Michael Komichak Ukrainian Language Scholarship (2007-2008).
